DHAJ (Forum) on 18 Aug : 14:43 [re: World of Tanks Closed Beta] Yesterday, I was accepted into the closed beta (as were a few of you who signed up the same day I did). I promptly created an account and began downloading the 1.1GB installer file. This afternoon, ...[more]
Stompfest is a large LAN Party, like LANWar, only based in Indiana. This year's Stompfest is April 10-11 and I believe it'll be held at the State Fairgrounds. I'm hoping to take a team this year and play in a tournament or two. They don't have official tournaments set up yet, but I'm willing to bet TF2 will be at least one of the games played.
If you're interested in going or would like to be on our tournament team, let me know! If you want to be on the tournament team, please be aware that we'll need to practice and play together a few times before attending. So don't be surprised if we organize a few practice sessions.

I was looking at their forums earlier and they were discussing TF2, CS:S and Battlefield: BC2. It also sounds like teams will consist of 5 or 6 players. So... We'll have 6 slots open, but the 6th player may be used as a substitute if they only allow 5 players. All will be done on first come, first serve basis.
My participation is assumed and the wife has requested a spot, so that leaves 4 more. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.

im somewhat interested but i wont be getting battlefield: bc2 because my pc cant run it... i also know track is gonna be starting so idk if thats gonna affect me goin either. i also have to talk to my parents about it so aas of rite now im just interested.
I should've mentioned this earlier... you don't have to be on the team to go to Stompfest. You can go as just a general player and enjoy the LANness.
I actually don't care either way if we play in a tournament. I just know we have some really good players in our small group and it'd be cool to win some prizes for pwning some noobs. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.
We might just have to skip the tournaments this year since they haven't even announced what the official tourney's will be. There will supposedly be un-official tourney's and if we feel up to it we might try one or two of those. With just over a month before the event, there's no easy way for us to get enough practice in unless we all managed to play together at least once a week.
Registration still isn't open yet, but I'll be sure to post when it is. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.

Hey everyone. Glad to see some interest in the LAN over here
Registration for our admin team and subscribers will be opening either late tonight or tomorrow. Registration for the public will either open on Sunday or Monday. Keep an eye on the website for the official announcement.
As DHAJ said, we haven't selected our tournaments yet - the tournaments will be voted on by the attendees (you select the games you want when you sign up for the LAN). We WILL be hosting unofficial tournaments - if the interest is there and we have enough players/time, we can probably host it! We're really driven on community feedback, so if there's a game you want to play at the LAN, please make sure to let us know on the forums. We will do our best to get a server up for a side-tournament.
Wow, it's great to see an official response from Stompfest.com. Unexpected, but great. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.
Registration is now open. Head over to http://stompfest.com/, create an account. Then go back to their main page and click on the Register link.
If you pre-register, you'll have to Paypal or mail a $25 money order to them. If you're not comfortable using Paypal, the Post Office sells money orders for around a dollar, I believe.
If you want to wait until the event, you'll have to pay $30 at the door. If you do this, you probably won't get to sit with the rest of the group.
Anyone under 18 will need this form. Have your parents sign it BEFORE leaving...
Also, the event isn't at the fairgrounds like I had thought. It's only an hour and a half from V'burg, though, so not too bad. Here's a mapquest map for those interested.
Doors open at 8am on Saturday, April 10th and the event is over on Sunday April 11th at 6pm. That's 34 hours of gaming goodness. If I find a replacement for my Sunday morning responsibilities, I'm planning on staying the whole time. So if you're bumming a ride, make sure you can stay as long as they will be. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.
Also... there's a CGN Group you can select while registering.
And... you can pre-order you meals, too. They have it in packages. Basic ($25) - Admission
- Monster
Single Meal ($40) - Admission
- 4 Slices of pizza
- 3 Monsters
- A Stompfest cup with unlimited refills
Hardcore ($60) - Admission
- 8 Slices of pizza
- 6 monsters (I think)
- Stompfest cup with unlimited refills
- T-shirt
You can also do a "custom order" and mix and match the things you want. For example, I'm not into Monster and 8 slices is probably more than my fat belly needs, so I got admission ($25), 6 slices of pizza ($1.25 x 6 = 7.50) and a Stompfest cup ($8) which comes to $40.50. You can add a T-shirt ($15), hotdogs, bottled water, nachos, and more Monster ($2).
If you're planning on doing the money order gig, you need to hurry up and register since they're only accepting them for the first week. After you sign up, you'll be taken to Paypal to checkout. It's pretty easy. You might note your Stompfest username somewhere in the Paypal page, just in case of confusion.
If you have trouble, hit me on Xfire/AIM/Steam and I'll help out as much as possible. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.
If I get my act together, I'm hoping to take our server. So it'll host a Hard and Suicidal Killing Floor server and maybe one other. I haven't really decided what we need, yet. I haven't really done any work to it yet, either. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.

yeah we should definately have another lan. But my computer was jacked up last nite so hopefully itll work now better because i used to get about 40-80 fps on css and last nite i got 10-25. lol. im gonna see if its doing any better after i gave it a break.
We just got home from Stompfest and boy was it fun. Even though the room was incredibly cold (colder inside than outside) and the internet was about as reliable as a used car salesman, it was a blast. There were 3 official tournaments, Deathmatch - Call of Duty Modern Warfare (1), Team based - Team Fortress 2, and Real Time Strategy - Warcraft 3. All 3 of us participated in the COD4 tourament. Sadly, even though we all played pretty well, none of us made it past the first round. Drkripper and I felt like we were doing well during the warmup (well enough to make it to round 2), but during the real thing we didn't do quite as well. We opted out of the TF2 tournament, though and none of us even own Warcraft 3.
It was soooo cold, though... My CPU usually idles at 35°C and it was less than 20° at some points. They also had tons of prizes and other free stuff. Drkripper and I both won case fans in the raffle. They also had cases, motherboards, memory, and lots of other expensive goodies.
We met some really great people and I'm sure all 3 of us are eager for the next Stompfest. Hopefully more of you can share in the enjoyment.
(edit: I was apparently so tired when I wrote this that I actually had some typos. Guess 3-4 hours of sleep wasn't enough...)

Right now The Fish and Bread Trick is looking primarily for non-restoration druid healers. If you are looking to raid, please know that we are very full on mages, hunters, and warlocks. Raid slots are extremely limited for those classes.
However, all levels, classes, and races are very encouraged to join. Please join the CGN webpage and apply with the link below. The Guild Leader, Iorokan/Junataro, or an officer will be in touch with you shortly.
Our raid times are Tuesday and Thursday at 7 PM until around 10 PM server time (CST). Raids invitations are given out based on gear requirements of the instance, needed specs for the evening, and on a first come-first serve basis.
Please email the guild leader if you would like to speak with Iorokan and learn about the guild. If you are a Christian or someone looking for a family-friendly, pretty laid back atmosphere, and play on Ghostlands, consider joining this guild. We are currently involved in 10 man raids. As people join, we will look further into 25 man raids.
All classes are welcome to join our guild and have fun with us. We are about fun and good fellowship, not just not getting gear.
