I've had two Saitek Eclipse keyboards randomly go bad. The first was the wife's several months ago and mine just died tonight. Both died suddenly and for no reason. Neither one of us had abused the keyboards and only moved them to go to LAN Parties. When hers went, it was pretty obvious since some keys didn't work and others performed the wrong functions. She was typing gibberish for a little while.
Mine had a little more scary symptoms. My computer suddenly started going to sleep mode. I'd press my power button for it to come back, type my password to unlock the computer, and it'd go back to sleep mode. I ended up getting back into Windows long enough to reboot. After powering back on, it took a couple boots before it actually came back like it was supposed to. And then it continued going to sleep. I finally had it in Windows long enough to disable the sleep function in Windows. But by then, I couldn't even type on the keyboard.
Before all this happened, I had planned on getting a pair of Saitek keyboards like we had, but now I'm not so sure. I had also considered getting Saitek Eclipse II (the upgrade), but I highly doubt they fixed the glitch. So... if you've got a Saitek keyboard, maybe you should keep a spare keyboard close by. -- If at first you don't succeed, destroy any evidence you ever tried.
